Chu Cho and TDG Gold Corp. Collaborate to Clean Up the Baker Mine Property

Once a thriving mining site, time and neglect have taken their toll on this property. After being shut down several years ago, vandalism and deterioration have become rampant, leading to a site in dire need of rehabilitation.

Enter Chu Cho Industries and Chu Cho Environmental, businesses owned by the Tsay Keh Dene Nation, and TDG Gold, collaborating to clean up the site. The project is managed by Morgan Hussero, with a background in spill response, contaminated sites, and environmental services. Jared McCook, who works for Chu Cho Industries, and Brandon, who has worked for the company for several years, will also be lending their expertise to the effort.

The goal of this project is to leave the site in great condition for the new owners to start work next year with no headaches. The team will be pairing all of the old machinery, doing a general site cleanup, sorting and separating waste streams, and salvaging equipment parts for future use. They will also be cleaning out some of the old buildings so they can be disposed of.

Several areas of the site are in need of attention, including the crew accommodations, workshop, old research labs, core shack, and mill. Chu Cho Industries and Chu Cho Environmental are honored to be working with TDG Gold to restore the site to its former beauty and functionality. The end goal is to make the site cleaner and safer than it was when they first arrived.

This collaboration is especially important as it supports local businesses and the first nation that owns them. The team is thrilled to be making a genuine difference and to be working in such a beautiful part of the territory.
