Working in the North | The Chidliak Project
Backdropped by the stunning beauty of the Canadian Arctic, a team of intrepid professionals from Chu Cho Environmental and Ecologic has embarked on a journey to monitor and study the remote and pristine environment. With rain, snow, and the occasional freezing rain to contend with, these dedicated individuals are facing the challenge of working in one of the harshest climates on Earth.
As they navigate the streets of the Arctic town of Apex, and make their way to the shores of Robisher Bay, step one for the team is the challenge of loading and testing their specialized and extremely expensive weather monitoring. But armed with experience and positive attitudes, they are able to get the job done, and are loaded up and on their way to their office in no time. Despite the unpredictable weather, they remain optimistic and are determined to make the most of their time on the ground.
The team finds joy and satisfaction in the work they do. Through their efforts, they are able to gather data and make observations that will help us better understand this fragile ecosystem. With the support of their colleagues, including project manager David, they have been able to make the most of their time on the ground, despite copious downtime and limiting weather conditions. And with a small break in the weather, the team finally has a chance to head north to the monitoring sites by way of a twin otter. Nothing is for certain working in the arctic, so the working window is a big relief and an opportunity for the crew to make some real progress on the task at hand.
Through the rain and snow, and with the support of their colleagues, the team from Ecologic continues their work in the Canadian Arctic. Their dedication and passion for their work serves as a testament to the importance of environmental research and conservation, and the role that dedicated individuals can play in making a positive impact on our planet.
